Zabona came to Uganda in 2017 from the Democratic Republic of Congo with his family. To earn a living, he tried his hand at construction, agriculture and salon business.

He was taught by an officer from UGAFODE about saving. He also attended several financial literacy trainings by the Wakati Foundation, which were funded by UGAFODE. In 2021, he opened a savings account with UGAFODE. After seeing the benefits, he was getting from saving with UGAFODE, Zabona convinced his savings group of 30 people to open up an account with UGAFODE and start saving their money, with the institution, instead of leaving it in a box, which was risky. So they opened up a Group Save Account, on which they deposit their money.

He is grateful for the opportunity he got with UGAFODE where he has been saving his money and expanding his salon venture. He is assured that his money is safe with UGAFODE, which is a regulated institution, instead of saving in the box in someone’s house from where it can easily be stolen.
