Prof. Ben Kiregyera  

Prof. Ben Kiregyera   Chairperson Board of Directors

Prof. Kiregyera has been at the forefront of the statistical renaissance and associated statistical architecture in Africa. He has assisted many countries in Africa to reform their statistical systems and/or design their Statistical Master Plans/National Strategies for the Development of Statistics. He led a team of international consultants that designed the Reference Regional Strategic Framework for Statistical Capacity Building in Africa (RRSF) and wrote the first documentation on NSDS that was published by PARIS21 (Partnership in Statistics for Development in the 21st Century).

He is the initiator and Co-chair of the Editorial Board of the African Statistical Journal which is published by the African Development Bank, the initiator and member of the editorial Board of the African Statistical Newsletter which is published by the African Centre for Statistics at UNECA. He belongs to a number of international professional associations and an independent member of the Board.

Shafi Nambobi  

Shafi Nambobi   Chief Executive Officer/Director and Member of ALCO and IDTC

Mr. Nambobi is a microfinance expert with over 19 years’ experience in microfinance with strong leadership and institutional capacity building skills. He began his career as a Credit Officer in FINCA Uganda before assuming positions of credit supervisor, branch manager and Regional Manager. Between 2002 and 2006, Mr. Nambobi was the deputy operations manager in charge of village banking and later Supervision, Policy Compliance and managing Special Projects. In 2006, he moved to Uganda Finance Trust as the Chief Manager Operations, before becoming the Chief Operating Officer for FINCA Malawi for two years. He then joined Tujijenge Tanzania under AMSCO Manager Secondment program as Managing Director/Board member prior to joining Premier Credit Uganda as Chief Executive Officer/Board member.

He joined UGAFODE Microfinance Ltd (MDI) in May 2017 as Chief Executive Officer/Board member. He has a Bachelors’ degree in Public Administration specialized in Human Resource management and development, Masters in Microfinance, Diploma in Banking Management and PGD in Financial Management.

Mr. Michel Dubois  

Mr. Michel Dubois   Director and Chairperson of RISK Committee, Member of Board ALCO, Risk and Credit Committee

Mr. Dubois is a seasoned professional banker with 37 years of experience within three large organizations, having worked in 8 different countries and on three continents. He has been responsible for 10 various set ups (branch, subsidiary, bureau) of Paribas and BNP Paribas among them and he had the opportunity to create two new set of the bank in Russia and Saudi Arabia.

His management skills and personal behavior have enabled him to operate efficiently with people of various race, nationality and religion. He has dealt with some of the biggest corporate entities worldwide such as Kwaneer (USA) TOTAL both in Africa and the Middle East.

Ms. Olive Kabatalya  

Ms. Olive Kabatalya   Director and Chairperson of the Credit Committee, also a member of RISK and ALCO committees.

Ms. Kabatalya is a financial services expert having accumulated 12 years of hands-on operational experience in banking and over 20 years in microfinance institutions capacity building as a consultant. She has served in several countries in Africa and Asia and was part of two project teams that laid the foundation of microfinance capacity building in Uganda and Cambodia.

Her employment experience has been with the Uganda Commercial Bank (Now Stanbic Bank), the United Nations, Chemonics International, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Enterprising Solutions Global.
She is an independent Board Member.

Ms. Raliat Sunmonu  

Ms. Raliat Sunmonu   Director and Chairperson of IDTC, Member of HRCO and Risk Committees.

Raliat has over 20 years of hands-on experience in digital strategy, risk management, strategic planning, corporate governance, and corporate transformations. Prior to joining Accion as the Senior Director of Africa, Raliat worked with organizations like IBM, MTN, and the World Bank to deliver successful engagements in areas including better, relevant products and services for underserved populations and corporate transformations.

Raliat holds an Executive Master of Business Administration from INSEAD, a Master of Science in Computer Science from Johns Hopkins University, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Maryland.

Ms. Ballreich  

Ms. Ballreich   WWB Board Representative, Director and Chairperson of ALCO, Member of HRCO and IDTC Committees

Ms. Ballreich has over 10 years of experience investing in emerging markets as well as designing and executing impact investment strategies that result in social as well as financial returns. She is a Principal Investment Officer and Operations Manager at Women’s World Banking Asset Management, where she is responsible for structuring and managing private equity investments in financial service providers throughout Africa, Asia, and Latin America with the goal to improve women’s financial inclusion and gender diversity in the financial service industry. Prior to joining Women’s World Banking, Ms. Ballreich was an Investment Officer with the Inter-American Development Bank Group, a Project Leader with Dalberg Global Development Advisors, and a Consultant with the Boston Consulting Group. Ms. Ballreich holds a Master’s in International Economics and International Relations from the Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies and is a CFA Charter holder.

Ms. Ballreich represents Women’s World Banking on the Board.

Ruth Doreen Mutebe N. (Mrs)  

Ruth Doreen Mutebe N. (Mrs)   Director and Chairperson Board Audit Committee, Member of ALCO and Credit Committees

A qualified accountant, certified director, and senior banker with Non-Executive Director and Chair of Audit experience, acknowledged as an effective leader with strategic vision at the senior corporate level. Recognized for the expertise in internal audit and over 15 years experience working across commercial and microfinance banking, utility business, external auditing, risk and financial management, training, general business administration, and board governance. She is a trainer certified by the Institute of Internal Auditors-Florida, USA, and a Graduate of Advanced Leadership from The Wharton School of Executive Education (USA), and Creative Metier (England). Ruth-Doreen has held different Non-Executive/Advisory roles in the private and public sectors, including Institute of Internal Auditors, Inc. Florida USA, Africa Federation of Institutes of Internal Auditors, National Agricultural Research Organization, Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development, Institute of Internal Auditors, Uganda, and Institute of Certified Public Accountants Uganda.

She is an independent Board Member.

Christine Kyomugisha Zake (Mrs)  

Christine Kyomugisha Zake (Mrs)   Director

Christine Kyomugisha Zake is a Certified Public Accountant and a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA-UK), with extensive experience and training in Finance and administration. She has over twenty years of experience in financial management, which spans the public, private, not-for-profit, and banking sectors, and also has considerable experience in corporate risk management.

Christine has good knowledge of national and international finance, accounting and audit standards, and statutory financial requirements, as applicable in Uganda.

She has work experience with a number of organizations including, Standard Chartered Bank (U) Limited, Nile Bank Limited, Umeme Limited, Uganda Securities Exchange, Agribusiness Initiative Trust (aBi), and Uganda Development Corporation.

She is an independent Board Member.

Mr. Jonathan Mugalu  

Mr. Jonathan Mugalu   Executive Director, also a member of Risk, Committee

Jonathan is an ACCA Certified Accountant with 15 years of progressive experience in the fields of Accounting, Taxation and Audit where he has held various positions of responsibility, working with clients and organisations in different sectors. He holds a Master’s of Business Administration (Accounting and Finance) from Edinburgh Business School, Heriot-Watt University, UK and a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce (Accounting) from Makerere University. Previously, he worked with Pride Microfinance Limited (MDI), Baylor-Uganda, and the United Bank of Africa before joining UGAFODE Microfinance Limited (MDI) as Head of Finance, before being appointed to his current position of Executive Director. He is highly skilled in strategy development and implementation, institutional-wide financial resources planning, leadership and general administrative risk-based management, financial modeling, IFRS accounting and people management.

Mr. Richard Emuye  

Mr. Richard Emuye   Alternate Director for FEFISOL and member of IDTC

Richard is a partner at Finmaxx Uganda Ltd where he heads Enterprise Solutions & Cyber Security. He holds a Master of Science in Data Communication & Software Engineering from Makerere University, Kampala, and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Dar-es-salaam University, Tanzania. He has various certifications/ relevant Professional Development (Skills) Training in the following areas; Certified Ethical Hacking & Counter Measures, Certified Hacking Forensics Investigator, Cobit5, Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE), CompTIA A+ PC SUPPORT Training, CDIA+ Electronic Document Management Essentials, Strategic and Operational Planning using Microfin Modal and Information System Development.

Mr. Emuye is the alternative Director representing FEFISOL on the Board.

Mr. Kevin Kamemba  

Mr. Kevin Kamemba   Alternate Director for WWB

Mr. Kevin Kamemba has over 14 years’ experience investing in the SSA private equity space across multiple sectors. He has spent the last 5 years in the financial inclusion space also sitting on the boards of various financial institutions. Kevin is a Principal Investment Officer and Head Africa at Women’s World Banking Asset Management, where he is responsible for structuring and managing private equity investments in financial service providers in Africa with the goal to improve women’s financial inclusion and gender diversity in the financial service industry.

Prior to joining Women’s World Banking, he was the Regional Director Africa at Incofin IM, a USD 1.3 billion impact asset manager), and prior to that was the Investment Director at Ascent Capital a sector agnostic Private Equity Fund Manager focused on East Africa. Kevin also worked with Centum Investment a listed Private Equity Company that made several private equity and real estate investments across SSA. Kevin holds a B.A. Economics degree from University of Nairobi. He is a CFA and CAIA Charter holder and also completed his CPA.
